Key Project: Age UK
On the 28th of January The super cool optimistic jumping noodle squad (Luke, Josh, Dylan, Daniel, Ben, Jake and Aadil) visited Age UK Gateshead for our KEY project. We want to help the elderly by providing them with a thrilling afternoon of fun and entertainment with, singing, a game of bingo (maybe 2), a raffle, dominoes and some nice food.
We went to the centre to try and figure out some of the things that the elderly would like to have, also to get to know them a bit better. We listened to their stories and what they wanted. Some isolated elderly people were very pleased to talk to us and have us listen to their stories and about their lives. We even watched them eat their lunch and drink soup. Daniel found it difficult to understand the older people but the rest of us got great ideas for what our guests would like to do. The majority said they loved sing-alongs to western music.
We asked them all their favourite songs, Frank Sinatra was a favourite, and we wrote down all their ideas. They enjoy listening to western film music.
We are really excited to go back and enjoy another few hours of entertainment. The elderly are also looking forward to us coming back to host them IN an afternoon of fun to bring joy to what can be isolated lives.
