Martial Arts Fun at Japanese Club

The Japanese Club were delighted to receive a visit from a local Aikido club on the evening of Wednesday 21st November. Three men came to GEMS to teach Japanese club some Aikido techniques. We learnt how to do a forward roll and a backward roll and how to break people’s balance, and also how to repel someone if they try to grab your wrist.

We practised on mats and we all had a very fun time. They showed us a proper Aikido fight, and they also told us the history of Aikido and taught us some ways of defence. Those who didn’t know how to do a backward roll can certainly do one now! It was a great experience and we’ll never forget it!
