High Five to Jim

As many of you will now have seen, a permanent tribute to lollipop man Jim Connon is now in place. Jim's high fives were purchased with the money kindly donated by parents and friends of all four schools after his death.

As many of you will now have seen, a permanent tribute to lollipop man Jim Connon is now in place.

Jim's high fives were purchased with the money kindly donated by parents and friends of all four schools after his death.

Unable to place this at the actual crossing, it was felt that the gates nearest to the crossing/entry to 3 out of the 4 of the schools was the next best thing.

You will notice it has intentionally been placed at child height to encourage the children to interact with it.
Please encourage your kids to read them aloud and give them a physical high five.

With the remaining money raised, a really decent donation has been made to Great North Children's Hospital at Newcastle's RVI, as Jim's wife Kath asked.

It has taken some time, but I hope you all agree that this is the perfect lasting tribute to Jim, who always had a high five for every child that wanted one.

Credit to Kate Watkins, whose creative idea this was. And thank you also to GPFS head teacher Mrs Lamb for all her time to help us make this happen and make sure Jim is never forgotten. Thank you everyone for your donations.
