Pyramid Concert

On Wednesday 27th of June, lots of GEMS pupils, either singing or playing instruments, went to the Academy to perform in front of parents.  The Pyramid Concert is a concert (obviously) where the First, Middle and High Schools join together to show everyone their talent.  They had been practising since the start of the term, losing some of their evenings or lunchtimes just to prepare to perform at that one show.

On the night, the GEMS performers, as well as performers from Gosforth Academy, Junior High, Gosforth Central and the Gosforth Voices, had to deal with the unbearable heat in the room.  The choir sang ‘Waving Through a Window’ from ‘Dear Evan Hansen’, ‘This is Me’ from ‘The Greatest Showman’ and ‘Shackles’ by ‘Mary Mary’ (the Gosforth Voices also joined in for the last song).  The band played tunes including The Lion Sleeps Tonight and the William Tell Overture and there were other performances such as from a string group and a fusion band.

It was great fun and we hope to see more people coming to the choir and band next year.
