Zaragoza Exchange

The students from Spain arrived before the half term and stayed from Thursday evening to Thursday morning and lots of activities were enjoyed in school and out.  Some of the activities were a visit to Beamish, Wallington Hall (organised by parents) and the beach.

The welcome meal was on Friday night and was an evening of jokes, fun and food.

Beamish was the first trip which was held on Saturday.  We took a coach on the half hour trip.  Fortunately, we were rewarded with warm weather and a sunny skies.  We also took a tram to reach the village and then we split into two groups.  Of course, one of the groups went straight to the sweet shop (I’m surprised it wasn’t both).  We had a look in the bakery, the chemist, the bank and finally, the highlight of the day, the sweet shop.

Wallington Hall was organised by the parents hosting the students and it was mostly climbing on the trees, playing football (the exchange students’ favourite activity) and walking through the woods.

The beach was a trip on Monday, during school time, and, as the name suggests, it was to the beach and consisted of eating fish and chips, playing games and paddling.

I thoroughly enjoyed having and hosting the exchange students as they were all lovely and I hope that they will come back to England again in the future.
