Basketball Battlers
On Friday 16th June, some Year 6 students went to a basketball competition in Northumbria University where the Newcastle Eagles play.
They left at 9.15 and travelled by coach with Gosforth Central. When they got in, there were schools from all over Newcastle. GEMS sat in the back row and listened to the rules that were being announced. They were split into Gosforth East A and Gosforth East B teams and the matches began.
Spot the Newcastle Eagle!

Every school played five games and each was ten minutes long with thirty minutes for lunch. Team A won one out of five and team B won three out of five. When all of the games were over, there was an announcement about which teams had got into the quarter finals. Sadly, neither of GEMS teams got through but Tom and Charlotte were invited to join the Newcastle Eagles team for getting the most baskets.
We were lucky enough to get some Newcastle Eagles’ autographs. AJ got literally everything he brought with him signed!
Everyone returned to school a few minutes before the end of the day and they had all had a great time.
