Proving them Wrong!

On different days of the week, Year 6 went to the Creative Writing Centre at Live Theatre to take part in a Live Tales Writing Workshop. We started with a warm-up game where we walked around the area and when the leader called out a command (go, stop, clap and jump), we had to follow the order.

On different days of the week, Year 6 went to the Creative Writing Centre at Live Theatre to take part in a Live Tales Writing Workshop. After a short walk to Regent Centre, a train trip and a long walk to the theatre, we finally got our coats off and sat down.  We started with a warm-up game where we walked around the area and when the leader called out a command (go, stop, clap and jump), we had to follow the order.

However, when we were about to start writing our story, we were rudely interrupted by a “SCARY publisher”, who offended the Year 6s present by saying that kids can’t write (which we proved was absolute and complete rubbish) and dared us to write a story in half an hour.  We started by coming up with our main character, David the Cleaner (just for our group, it was different for everyone), the companion, Brenda the Builder and the setting, McDonalds.

We had come up with the introduction when, suddenly, the publisher stormed into the room.  Her demand was thought difficult to achieve, but not impossible.  She wanted … 29 DIFFERENT stories.  We were given half an hour, but that was all.

The 30 minutes zoomed by.  In no time at all, we had to hand in our stories and the publisher seemed very pleased with them.  She even asked to meet more children because we had convinced her that …
