The Key to Success

The Key is a student independent project which encourages students to work together and develop skills that they will later use in life.  Through providing funding, it lets groups of girls and boys organise a variety of fun and community based activities and develop some important skills in the process.  Groups need to organise an activity and pitch it to the Key Committee in the hope that they will be given a grant of £250.

The event that they have organised is a visit to Gravity Force, a trampolining park, skate park and climb zone.  Their pitch was quite short but well organised and delivered and it met the criteria set out by the committee.  Here is a quote from the team leader: “It was fun and a good experience.  I am glad I was chosen!” Other team members said “It really showed me what my weaknesses and strengths were and the skills I can use and depend on in my life”, “I’ve really enjoyed everything I did and it was a once in a lifetime opportunity”.  They also said that even though they had to work on some things, they still had fun at the same time and their bonding increased.

One event that is part of the Key Project has already taken place, a successful trip to Wet n Wild organised by Year 8 pupils and there are others in the pipeline including a whole school movie afternoon with profits going to charity and a Year 8 sleep-over!!
