Rising Sun Country Park: Year 5’s First Adventure… Back to the Stone Age
Year 5 went on their first adventure on the 19th and 20th of September 2016. They caught the Metro and walked along a very long country lane to Rising Sun Country Park.
Year 5 went on their first adventure on the 19th and 20th of September 2016. They caught the Metro and walked along a very long country lane to Rising Sun Country Park.
The first brilliant activity was bread making! To make bread you need flour, water, salt, bicarbonate of soda which you mix all together and cook over the fire! Then you have your own soda bread! (if you want you can have honey with it.)
The next experience was making and grinding wheat to make their own flour! About the event Jonathan in 5ER said “It was lots of work but yet it was fun!” Unfortunately they could not take the bread home or eat it but otherwise it was really fun.
Last but not least was den building where the children had the most fun. They built dens like in the Stone Age (some even have a campfire!) They even have a tool bowl where they kept spare spearheads in case the one they were using broke. Unluckily the children could not sleep the night in the dens because they were not waterproof. Well that’s what the instructor said!
We hope you enjoyed reading our newspaper article as much as we enjoyed our day at Rising Sun. All of Year 5 want to go again!
