Lydia , a Year 5 girl from 5ER, gave the Year 5 racers some confidence. Lydia said: ‘Just do your best and try as well as you can then you should be happy with your performance’. Thanks Lydia. The course was very tough but everyone completed it and felt happy with their achievement.
Ethan’s view of the race: Because it was a school event with some people who weren’t used to race starts, lots of people got nervous about the gun start. I would like to reassure everyone it’s just a cap gun. Inexperienced runners, sprint from the start but I’ve been a club running since I was 7 so I got a good start, but didn’t go off like a rocket. The ground was firmer than I am used to with some gravely bits and the day was hot. I stuck with the leaders around the course changing the pace but then when I thought it was time I went to the front. I won my race by 8 seconds.
