National Maths Success
Jessica in year 5 came second out of 14,998 children in SUMDOG's national maths contest.
Yet again GEMS have shown our great strength in maths. We entered SUMDOG's national maths competition in October, and Jessica in 5SL came second out of 14,998 children from all over the country. She answered 1,000 maths questions over a week, and got all but 14 of them correct. Even more amazing, she averaged one question every 4.4s. I'll leave it as an excercise for you to work out how long she spent on the competition.
Mr Mills' year 5 maths group also did brilliantly, coming 4th out of 1,609 classes that entered. SUMDOG has been a great success for the school, and is really boosting our children't skills in maths.
