On the 20th June Key Stage 2 got to watch a performance about Roald Dahl which was performed by one actor called Tony Pedley. This was to complete the series of activities that we have been doing in school to celebrate the centenary of Road Dahl’s birth. He performed in period one for year 5 and period four for Year 6. It was a one man performance and covered most of Dahl’s books. Tony told us that nearly all of the words he was going to say in his performance were said in Roald Dahl’s books or were actually said by Roald Dahl himself.

The performance was very entertaining because it was funny, jolly and the actor had a very expressive voice. The performance included the BFG, The Witches, Dirty Beasts to name but a few. Tony Pedley is a professional actor and he has played the Big Friendly Giant in the BFG. He has done a lot of shows but not all of them about Roald Dahl’s books. Since it was a one man show, and he needed to play more than one character, he did really well. He made the children laugh by doing different voices and using different props for all the different characters. He sometimes got very close up to the audience and pulled funny faces. He also did wiz popping; if you don’t know what this is you better get reading the BFG.
