From Monday 26th to Friday 30th July 2021 we held a Summer School at GEMS, funded by the DfE as part of their COVID recovery plans. As a school we decided to focus this funding on transition for our new Year 5 pupils. Of the 128 children invited we were delighted to welcome 99 children throughout the week. We had a wonderful time introducing the children to GEMS and preparing them for their transition in September.

Teachers from across the school designed activities based around the book 'The Lost Words'. We did Maths, English, Science and Art activities as well as cooking, computing and sport. We went on a trip to take in a local nature walk and collected artefacts to help with our studies back at school. 

After school each afternoon we offered extracurricular clubs. From a school disco to football club to drama and art club, pupils were given a real taste of the activities on offer at GEMS.
