  • Night at the Museum– the sequel

    Last year some lucky pupils got to stay the night at the Great North Museum. This year it was the turn of three pupils from Year 8 Amelia, Luke and Rhianna. This is what Amelia had to write about her experience:

    On the 11th December, I got the chance to stay over for one night at the Great North Museum which was amazing! The other pupils who had this great experience were Luke, Josh, and Rianna.

  • Martial Arts Fun at Japanese Club

    The Japanese Club were delighted to receive a visit from a local Aikido club on the evening of Wednesday 21st November. Three men came to GEMS to teach Japanese club some Aikido techniques. We learnt how to do a forward roll and a backward roll and how to break people’s balance, and also how to repel someone if they try to grab your wrist.

  • Year 5 trip to Vue Gateshead Cinema

    On Thursday 14th November, Year 5 had a wonderful time when they went to the Vue Gateshead cinema to watch Goosebumps 2 (Haunted Halloween). They all agreed that it was quite scary but very enjoyable.

  • Children in GEMS Sponsored Walk

    Thursday 25th in Gems was a very important day as everyone took part in a sponsored walk for children in need. As always, Gems contributed to the phenomenal charity raising a massive total of £673. Each year group started the walk at a different time to each other so year 5 went first then year 6 and so on.

  • World War I - a Hundred Years

    On the 8th and 9th of November GEMS had two World War 1 days to celebrate the end of the war, a hundred years ago. We did lots of activities to do with the war. Things like writing war poems, war drama, learning about special people from the war and we even made tissue paper poppies. Every one enjoyed the two days.

  • Rock Nativity...going out on a high

    Since the end of the last school year, the current Year 6, 7 and 8s have been practising for ‘Rock Nativity’. Ms Hodgson and Miss Thompson worked even harder to direct the show and help it become as great as it was. They stayed after school, sacrificed their lunchtimes and missed lessons to prepare for the show. Lots of teachers and students helped with the show like Mr Thompson who made the costumes, Aria who designed the programme and some pupils who worked hard backstage.

  • Some more thank-yous...

    We would like to thank both Marks and Spencer and Sainsbury’s  for contributing to the refreshments  served at the interval of Rock Nativity...the mince pies went down very well.

    Thank-you also to Tesco who have donated lots of Halloween outfits to fit children from 12 months to 12 years.  They will be on sale  throughout next year at a bargain price of £3 with all money going towards the budget for costumes for future school performances.

  • Pantomime

    On Monday 3rd of December, the Year Sevens and Eights were extremely lucky and went to the theatre for a Christmas treat- oh yes we did (sorry)! There were a number of coaches parked in the GEMS car park because there were so many children going to the pantomime. Once we all piled onto the coaches with our classes, we were already in the  festive spirit.

  • Last day of school...whoop whoop!

    Cinema trip... December 21st was the last day of the term before the Christmas holidays began- which is the most wonderful time, of the year! Every year, Gems have a treat visit somewhere and this year we went to the Vue Cinema in Cramlington. Pupils had the option of 3 films to watch: The Grinch, Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find them: the Crimes of Grindelwald, or Wreck it Ralph Breaks the Internet.
