It's an exciting time for Year 8! Language Option forms have gone out today for Gosforth Academy. Please return completed forms to GEMS no later than Monday 30th March. Forms handed in after this time may not receive the same consideration as others.
If you would like to come and see the show on 24th/25th or 26th March please ask your child to bring a letter home or download it from our recent letters page. Our office is always happy to help.
Thank you to parents and pupils. A fantastic time was had by all. We will update photos of some of the costumes worn on Friday and the books you love soon.
A fantastic well done to the Gosforth East Middle School team who were placed first in the regional final of the UKMT Maths challenge. This is the second consecutive year that a GEMs team have won the Regional final. Twenty seven teams from the region took part in the event at Knott Hall in Heddon on the Wall and pupils competed against each other in solving some very challenging Maths problems. Our winning team included two of our Year pupils and two of our ex-pupils, now in Year 9 at Gosorth Academy. The team will now take part in the National Final in London on 22nd June. The pupils were a real credit to the school and demonstrated a very impressive level of Mathematical skills. Well done to you all!
Naomi from Sustran came into today's assembly to launch this year's Big Pedal. There are prizes to be won including a residential trip for the class who records the most points. The Big Pedal celebrates those pupils who already cycle or scoot to school and encourages others to get their bikes and scooters out for two weeks from 2nd March (and hopefully for longer). It isn't just for GEMs pupils though! In addition to pupils being awarded points for their participation they are also win points for any family member who use their bike or scooter for their journeys during the Big Pedal period.
Check out the Big Pedal website for more information:
To link in with the Big Pedal, Miss Hudson is also starting Bike Club. It will be held every Wednesday from 3.20 - 4.20pm.
Pyramid Windband at Gosforth Central 3.30 - 4.30pm. Ms H will walk pupils to the rehearsal at the end of the school day.
