It was time for the annual summer fair. The sun was shining, the breeze warm and insects buzzed lazily in the heat haze. Only joking! This was after all July in England so the rain clouds were massing on the horizon and the temperature struggled to make double figures. Undeterred, the barbeque was erected, the bouncy castle inflated and the ice-cream van stood at the ready. There was lots of fun still to be had.
The 9th of June was great fun, as 5AW had planned a street party for the whole school to celebrate the queen’s 90th birthday. Everyone was encouraged to wear red, white and blue, our country’s colours and Union Jacks fluttered in the summer breeze.
In science 5RM went pond dipping. We were searching for all kinds of creatures such as: frogspawn, water boatmen and diving beetles.

GEMS went to the swimming gala at Gosforth Pool, and we came back loaded with medals and trophies - and as the overall champions.
From the 14th-16th June a handful of pupils from Year 8 went to visit the company Accenture, a worldwide technology company. We learnt how to make a website using coding such as HTML and CSS and also got an insight into what it is like to work for a huge company like Accenture.
This summer, GEMS will be hosting a "Skills to Shine" summer school.
On the 13th and 20th of June, the year 7 classes went on an exploration to Gibside to take part in multiple, fun activities.
At the end of last half term some members of Year 7 chose to go to Newlands on a residential outdoors adventure. The weather was perfect for the whole of the week and everyone who went had an amazing time.
Mr Mills' year 5 maths group have won the SUMDOG Newcastle Maths competion.
Children across the school have been taking part in the SUMDOG Maths competition with great success.
