Mrs Overton, the Head Teacher at Stephenson Memorial Primary School in North Tyneside, organised a visit of some Chinese students to GEMS. The children came on the 29th and 30th of November.

Our Christmas fair was a great success. We had lots of fun playing games, winning, losing (maybe not so much fun), eating cakes and watching (and performing in) a gymnastics display.
Our pupils have been winning yet more prizes in Sumdog's national maths competitions.
Year 5 went on their first adventure on the 19th and 20th of September 2016. They caught the Metro and walked along a very long country lane to Rising Sun Country Park.
Ethan is a member of Gosforth Harriers and has been since he was 7 years old. He runs with them 5 times a week and goes every Wednesday to the track.
On the 4th of October Year 5 and 6 took part in a cross country competition at Gateshead Stadium. Ethan from year 6 came 1st place out of approximately 100 Year 6 racers. Scot came 10th from about 100 Year 5 racers.
There are lots of good clubs in school, and clubs are opportunities. Some great clubs are the sporty ones.
Year 6 learned about Boudicca at Segedunum Roman Fort.
On Friday 16th of September House Captain nominees delivered speeches to their houses to determine who would be the House and Vice Captains for this year. After long deliberation, two House Captains and Vice Captains were voted for to represent Robson, Stephenson, Davison or Darling the newly chosen names for the four houses that we now have at GEMS.
Pupils and teachers have gathered together to take on the extreme reading challenge. It began with the Literacy Trust’s summer reading challenge.
On Wednesday 5th October, a few Year Sevens and Eights visited the Lit and Phil. They had a look at the huge library there and were introduced to the Judges for a writing competition: the ‘Young Writers’ Awards.’
On Friday 30th September 2016 our school had a MacMillan coffee morning which was in fact in the afternoon! Students didn’t have their last lesson, instead went down to the hall to have a cake or two and some met their parents.
