Brilliant BBC

Ooooooh, what is it, I wonder? Tell me, tell me!

On the afternoon of the 6th February book club and the newspaper team A.K.A press were very generously invited to go on the BBC interactive tour. We were going  to spend time in an exciting world of broadcasting. This is one of their award winning tours!

The events of the day

First our guide told us about the history and timeline of the BBC. Secondly, we got shown the old fashioned tapes in the archive. A strangely big amount of tape only held 25m and 30s approximately. After that, it was behind the scenes of Hetty Feather. He told us that when the girls auditioned to be in the show that they actually had to teach the girls to darn socks. Behind the scenes of Hetty Feather was amazing. Next we got a chance to see the real look north studios. This image shows the group in the studios. It was a great experience for all of us. Then, we got to make our own version of look north. Emma was the sports reporter, Evie was the main reporter and Emily was the weather reporter. Finally, we got to play copy cats. It was a great game and we all had lots of fun on the trip and learned many new facts about the BBC and the fascinating world of broadcasting.

Super studios and glorious galleries

We discovered lots of interesting things including the Look North Studio and a Copy Cats remake but my favourite part was the galleries where we got a chance to see what happens when different TV shows are broadcast and how they are broadcast. It was really interesting and some people got to be in charge! Sophie was very important because she was in charge of putting the show on live! WOW! We had so much fun at BBC Newcastle I wish we could go again!

Copycats

Copycats was the game where five people had to go into a booth and the person in the first booth (Sofia) was shown a picture of something. They got ten seconds to draw it the on the board. When the ten seconds were over a slide would open and the next person (Layla) would see the drawing and also had ten seconds to draw it and the same happened with everybody else (Amelie, Mabel and Shuwen). For fifty points Shuwen had to guess what Mabel had drawn. Shuwen thought it was a bath. For forty points Mabel had to guess what Amelie had drawn, she said it was a lion. For thirty points Amelie had to guess what Layla had drawn, she said it was a circle with a bow in its hair. For twenty points Layla had to guess what Sophia had drawn and she guessed Blush. Luckily, it was close enough!
