The Joys of Japan: Mary and the Witch’s Flower

On Tuesday 13th November the lucky children of the Japanese Club were taken by Mr Dowman, Mrs Bhatt, and Mr Douglas to the Vue Cinema Gateshead, to watch a brand-new Japanese film: Mary and the Witch’s Flower. The film was meant to be in Japanese with English subtitles but it turned out just to be in standard English with no subtitles.

The film was about a young girl called Mary who moves to a house in the countryside. Mary is always trying to help but she is very clumsy. Through her clumsiness, she meets a boy called Peter, who she doesn’t think much of at first. Then, she’s led by two cats into the forest, where she finds a flower that transports her to a school of magic, where everybody wants the flower.

With the help of Peter, Mary rescues the flower and goes back home after facing a great number of dangers. It was very interesting. It was a very cool experience!
