Running for your life at the Cross Country Event

On Tuesday the 2nd of October, Years 5, 6 and 7 went with Mrs Donelly and Mrs Hadfield to the cross country event. Everyone enjoyed the trip as they claimed to had an ‘amazing day.’ I interviewed Tarika from year 7, and she told me what happened during the day and what her highlights was.

“When we arrived we were split into six categories. The races took place at different times, however, the Year 7s had to run a 2K race compared to the Years 5 and 6s 1.5K. But we all ran 1 big lap over a small hill.”

Our school did extremely well in the competition, as one of the boys in the Year 5 race finished in 10th place and a Year 5 girl completed in 8th place. That is an amazing achievement when you think around 100 – 200 pupils participated in each race.

When I asked Tarika about the highlight of the day, she immediately answered; “Having a picnic with everyone on the hill.”

After the competition, all the pupils returned to school, (looking exhausted may I add) but having thoroughly enjoyed their day, and wishing that they could do another event in the future.
