Better Extreme: The Key

On the 23rd of June, 6 Year 8s and 9 Year 6s went on a trip to Heworth Leisure Centre and Better Extreme in Benwell as part of The Key project (which has been explained in previous newsletters).

They left at 9:15, the Key group and the friends they had invited along, and travelled by minibus to Heworth Leisure Centre to go swimming and surfing. The swimming pool was almost completely deserted and the group thoroughly enough the surfing machine-or the Flowrider. The Flowrider is a thrilling surfing simulator that brings all of the fun of surfing without the fear of drowning! No-one stayed on the board for very long, apart from Maizy.

After that, we had McDonalds. It was good. We then went to Better Extreme and had the whole trampoline park to ourselves. Everyone enjoyed it because it was so much fun. Mackenzie, Year 8, said “It was a great experience,”

A personal View…

Our day out was packed with activities which I thoroughly enjoyed. My favourite part was the Flow rider, a bit like surfing. It was tricky at first but I soon got used to holding the correct posture and my technique improved.  We then had fun in the pool with all the floats. After all that exertion, we had built up quite an appetite… I had 6 chicken nuggets, medium fries, a strawberry lemonade, iced drink and a Cadbury McFlurry! I can’t believe after all that I managed to go trampolining and hold down all my lunch! It certainly beat lessons any day!
