All About ‘Daft Day’

On ‘Daft Day’, we did lots of interesting activities, one of them was dressing in non-uniform but with a twist...we had to dress daft! All at GEMS became VERY daft on ‘Daft Day because of the things that we were wearing (the daft side to everyone’s personality was allowed to break free and some people’s daft side was ridiculously daft! Even though the majority of the children made a fantastic effort, some children had not quite transformed into ‘Dafties’ so extra clothing accessories were provided and soon ‘Daftness’ spread across the entire school. Everybody looked very funny, especially the teachers. Mr Stout dressed to impress but made an incredibly unattractive lady.

Throughout the day, raffle tickets were sold and the prizes were Easter Eggs (odd I hear you say- but what a perfect prize considering it was ‘Daft Day’) Also all form classes took part in varying world record attempts like how many times can you bounce a basket in one minute? And how many “keepy-ups” can you do without dropping the ball?

To round off our ‘Daft Day’, we assembled on the school field to attempt our final world record of the day… a  flash mob dance to the song ‘Happy’. Everyone really enjoyed it, even though it was kind of hard to remember. We raised £505.90 just at G.E.M.S. It was a very fun day and a very silly day and we are sure Daft as a Brush (DAAB) appreciate the contribution we have been able to make to the charity. All  at GEMS really got into the spirit of the day and look forward to the next “daft” opportunity; who knows maybe it can become an annual event?
