In September It Seemed So ‘Pharaoh’ Away… (sorry!)

Throughout the entire year, students and teachers have been working non-stop to put on a spectacular performance of ‘Joseph and The Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat’.

Last year, Ms Hodgson and Miss Thompson held auditions to see who would get the much-coveted parts in the play. After lots of deliberation the roles were decided and rehearsals began. The props also were being made: everything from sheep to pyramids and cacti to lamp posts. There were lots of other ways that people got involved, such as Backstage, Front of House, Lighting and the Band. Abby and Noor also did a fantastic job in designing the front cover for the programme, which everyone received who came to see the play.

The incredible set : thank-you Mr Rawlingson and his team

In the show there were 18 songs, all of which were performed to an exceptional standard. Of course we also have to mention the camel, great job Ms Graham and Mrs O’Sullivan.

We asked people who went to see the show what they thought of it. Here’s what they had to say:

Katie: “It was magical – I thought the use of lighting and props was very well thought out and it was clear that a lot of work had been put into it.”

Jack: “I loved it, ‘Canaan Days’ was my favourite song.”

Ben: “It was really great, I really enjoyed it!”

On 4th and 5th of April, the curtain finally went up and everyone was very impressed with how well it went. We were all very proud and we are very grateful to everyone who helped, especially Ms Hodgson and Miss Thompson, who have worked their technicolour socks off, in order to make the show a success for everyone.

Everyone thoroughly enjoyed it. There were obviously ups and downs, bits where it wasn’t going to plan but there were many more happy moments and fun times which made the whole 6 months of hard work worth it. We can’t wait to see what plays are to come in the future!
