On the 3rd February, five year seven children and Mrs Leahy went to see the Scottish Ballet’s performance of a childhood classic fairy tale, Hansel and Gretel. We arrived at the Theatre Royal, excited and took our seats on the balcony.  The orchestra was preparing for playing a beautiful soundtrack to the production and the stunning stage screen was down.  The whole theatre went dark and the show began.  At the beginning, the stage screen was still down but it was slightly translucent meaning that when the spotlights shone, you could see the scene take place behind it.  The ballet dancers were incredibly talented and we all enjoyed watching them.  They were so graceful and elegant and clearly loved what they do.

At the interval we all enjoyed some delicious flavours of ice cream; including ‘Wild Strawberry’ and ‘Cookies ‘N Cream’ and we all said that we had thoroughly enjoyed the first half of the ballet.  We waited for the curtains to come up, so we could watch the final part of the brilliant performance.  The second half was very captivating and the set and props were extremely realistic, almost good enough to eat!  The costumes were exquisite and remarkably beautiful, there were some funny parts too.  The death scene of the witch was very intense and slightly scary!

We would all like to thank Mrs Leahy for giving us the opportunity to see such a fantastic show and we thoroughly enjoyed seeing something so wonderful.
