The Chain of Peace

The Chain of Peace was a gathering of young people, sharing their ideas about  peace. As soon as you walked into St Thomas’ church you could see many stunning ‘peaces’ of artwork including our amazing banner, hearts and candle. Katie did an excellent reading infront of many important people including The Mayor of Newcastle and two bishops.

We then gathered around the outside of the church to form a human chain of peace, in true English style in pouring rain. With soaking paper doves and our tiny tea-lights we headed back inside to continue singing  in the darkened church. There was also a school choir which led us in hymns of peace. The event was  much enjoyed and a great way to pass on the message of peace.
