World Book Day

GEMS, yet again, saw the annual World Book Day celebration on Friday 3rd March 2017. Everyone came to school as their favourite book characters. There was a wide range of book characters from “Geek Girl” to “Harry Potter”. There was also a “favourite book competition” where pupils who took part found out the name of the teachers’ favourite books and whoever found the most would receive a prize.

The two people who won were Finn and Kamran and they won Easter eggs. Also, Joshua and Amy won mini eggs for working really hard in the competition.

Every pupil got a World Book Day token to spend on a book. A few of the books that people bought were “Blob” by David Walliams, “Mr Stink” also by David Walliams, “The Butterfly Club” by Jacqueline Wilson, “The Island” by David Almond, “The Savage” by David Almond and “Where‘s Wally” by Martin Handford.

“Teachers should get World Book Day tokens!” Mr Dowman exclaimed … not a bad idea!
